Collection: Lepidolite

I am Lepidolite.

The first recorded discovery of lepidolite was in 1861 by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff. Originally, they named it ‘lilliate’ because of its lavender hues. However, this name was later changed to lepidolite after the Greek word “lepidos” meaning scales after its scale-like appearance. These scales are caused by the lithium in the stone.
