I am Tourmaline.

Tourmaline was first discovered by Dutch Traders off the Western coast of Italy in the late 1600s or early 1700s. At the time, they found green tourmalines and mistook them for emeralds. This misconception continued until a chemist in the 1800s discovered that it was not emerald and in fact was its own entirely different mineral compound.
